Men Can Cry - Big Feelings
After all that stories about bearded (= real) men, both at EuroRanch and at NetDyslexia, the other side of men must be told. The dark side, the unhappy, the suffering, the ocean side. Get the depressing trouth at the EuroRanch *Crying Men Special*. No one else but the Pink Saloon wanted to host this special. Let this weekend be our mama´s uterus.

Calexico and Freakwater at Szene Wien - Mo, Mai 15
Calexico is - on the one hand - a town at the border of California and Mexico which is called Mexicali in Mexico. On the other hand it´s one of the greatest alternative tex-mex bands ever. One of the most famous artists in this band is Howe Gelb who is also playing with Giant Sand, OP8 or The Friends Of Dean Martinez. They have already been playing at Szene Wien and it was absolutely great then. Now they are presenting their third album "Hot Rail". Also playing: Freakwater, an excellent alt. girl-country band.
Try this 16kbps prelisten and download some mp3s from the sounds.

Euroranch to Partykeller.....
.....euroranch to partykeller.....yes I can hear you, but the connection is a little slow. I mean I do not always have my walkie screenie with me but that doesn´t matter. I´ll find your messages anyway. And some messages I´ll find in one year or in about 356 days and that will be allright - they are waiting there for me and want to be explored. Coming! ...over

Ullalah, the Bossa is even more nova
As reviewd at Motion, Bebel Gilberto has launched her debut album "Tanto Tempo" which is supplied by Suba's typical arrangements and production, as well as by contributions from young electro-brazilophiles such as Smoke City, Thievery Corporation, Beastie Boys producer Mario Caldato Jr and NinjaTune artist Amon Tobin. I could not find any mp3s yet but get some real samples.

Get much more of that and similar stuff at the sites of crammed discs - associated some fine labels.

Charming Rap
As if Jad Fair would make Hip-Hop. My Science Project called my attention to MC Paul Barman who is making very sympathatic, very childish and very funny hip-hop, "If you want sex with me/ Be prepared for bad sex/ And slapstick." Far away from all that stupid, boasting "put your hands in the air". Get some samples at mp3.com.

wien aperto
Vienna has 23 districts and all of them are accomodating artists and their studios. On the first 23 days of this month, the studios in the district according to the date are opened (aperto) for visitors from 17h -22h. Today for example the studio of Dieter Preisl (ex Tangoboys) and Norbert Trummer are open (Zimmermanngasse 7/1, 9th district of corse) or the famous studios at the WUK. District is called Hieb in viennese accent and "hieb hopping" is the subtitle to the event.

Epitonic.com is a fine preselcted mp3 site with reviews and audio samples. Very special are the different ways to search for your music. You can search for different music genres as well as for the editors choice or for labels. Furthermore they list their fresh cuts, the top downloads, full album streams and they also broadcast two radiostations. I think this will be my next nights.

Listen.com provides some kind of a meta service to search for artists or for music samples. They will give you an overview about which sites are featuring which titles and which formats. I have added both of the sites to musiczine at my links.

Feed the dump
After this pleasurable weekend I have lost all my repressions. You might know this bitchi music from commercials or from your fitness studio: Moby and Natural Blues [mp3/real] and some real shit, Praise You from Fatboy Slim [mp3/real].

And if you want to impress somebody by wangling down the window of your car, wearing your mirror-sunglasses and listening to - no, not Techno, but to real Rock´n Roll so try this: Ghetto City Version by Zen Guerilla [mp3/real].

Finally, for those who are notional still in the weekend, some slow motion cinemascope is a little less dangerous: September by Heather Duby [mp3/real].
